Industrial fasteners concern Trifast (TRI) is looking for acquisitions after turning £2.8 million annual losses into £2.5 million pre-tax profits. The fully-listed company increased turnover nearly 24 per cent to £106 million in the year to March and achieved a £3 million turnaround into profitability in its UK operations, which executive chairman Malcolm Diamond attributes to restructuring, improved logistics and warehousing and a 'strategic' approach to purchasing, as well as a recovery in markets. Chinese steel maker Shandong Shangang Group cut the price of its deformed steel bars by 100 yuan per ton on Sept 21, the first State-owned steel mill to lower its product price in September, the National Business Daily reported Tuesday. Comments:

On August 25, Taiwan CSC announced the latest steel price for domestic sales for October and November. The price of all steel products will be reduced. After the slight reduction of price in September, the average price reduction this time is NT$1,482/ton (-5.9%). The fastener industry had had expected the price reduction before the adjustment. However, they did not expect that the adjustment would be so substantial. This adjustment is considered to be beneficial to all downstream industries. Comments:
